Fiji in Full Color: A Spring Journey Into the Heart of the Coral Triangle

Limited-Edition Fine Art From a Reef Few Will Ever See This Way

This past spring, Fiji offered me a gift I rarely encounter—reefs so alive, so impossibly saturated with life, that even after decades of photographing the ocean, I found myself genuinely humbled.

As part of the Coral Triangle, Fiji is known for its biodiversity, but nothing prepared me for the sheer volume of anthias that filled the water column. These weren’t scattered schools; they were waves—hundreds, sometimes thousands—moving in shimmering layers of orange, magenta, and violet. Swimming through them felt like drifting inside a living kaleidoscope.

The corals themselves were equally extraordinary—sculptural, lush, and thriving. Massive bommies. Soft coral gardens. Plate corals stacked like ancient terraces. Every structure felt intentional, as though the reef had been arranging itself for centuries in preparation for this moment.

What made this trip truly unique, however, was the clarity. It is exceedingly rare to be able to shoot true vertical reefscapes—light, depth, and visibility almost never align. But in Fiji, they did. A clear water column allowed me to capture steep coral ridges from base to sunlit surface, creating compositions that are nearly impossible to replicate anywhere else in the world.

These images represent not just the beauty of a functioning ecosystem, but a confluence of conditions that may not come together again. For collectors, that rarity matters.

About the Limited Editions

The works from this Fiji series will be released in strictly limited editions, and if requested accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. As with all my editions, once it sells out, it is permanently retired. The images are available at www.campbellphotography.com

Because of the unusual visibility, the immense anthias density, and the rare ability to create vertical compositions on these reefs, this body of work stands apart from anything I’ve produced in recent years—and it is likely to appreciate in value as availability tightens.

For the Serious Collector

If you’re drawn to works with movement, color complexity, and ecological significance, this collection offers an opportunity to acquire pieces that are both visually compelling and inherently scarce.

I’m happy to consult directly with collectors—whether you’re seeking a signature large-format installation, searching for an investment-quality piece, or curating a cohesive grouping.

A Reef This Alive Is a Story Worth Preserving

Owning a print from this series means bringing a window of Fiji’s living brilliance into your space—a glimpse of a reef at its fullest expression, captured under conditions that may never align again.

If you’d like early access to the edition list or would like to reserve a specific work before the public release, please reach out. I’d be glad to help you select the piece that will resonate most deeply with your collection.
